## Description

**Come shape the future of education with us.**

At Compass, we love working with schools and strive to deliver new innovations, functions, and process improvements as new technology becomes available. Our services are specifically designed to improve not only the school process but also community culture and student learning outcomes.

Compass is a product that genuinely provides students, teachers, and parents with an improved educational experience. You can leave at the end of each day knowing you made a difference to a student's education or helped make a staff member’s day just that little bit better.

Our school management ecosystem is now used in more than 5,000 schools across Australia and beyond. We’re joined by over 300+ members of the Compass team, building the operating system for schools worldwide.

**About the Role & Team**

This is a rare one: you'll be Compass Education's very first dedicated Talent Acquisition Specialist. You'll own end-to-end recruitment from day one, working shoulder-to-shoulder with hiring managers across the business to find and win the people who'll fuel our next chapter of growth in edtech; a space where the work you do genuinely shapes better outcomes for schools, teachers and students.

Reporting to the Head of People and working alongside a P&C Business Partner and a P&C Coordinator, you'll join a team that genuinely supports each other and celebrates each other's wins. You'll also have real autonomy; you won't just execute a hiring strategy, you'll help build it. From how we tell our story to candidates, to the hiring process itself, to what great candidate experience looks like as we scale.

## Requirements

**What you’ll do:**

- Own full-cycle recruitment across all business functions, from intake briefings with hiring managers through sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer and close.
- Act as the primary administrator of our Workable ATS: maintaining job postings, pipelines, interview scorecards, offer templates and recruitment reporting.
- Build proactive talent pipelines for hard-to-fill and recurring roles rather than relying solely on reactive, ad-hoc sourcing.
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, interview panels and assessment approaches that are fair, consistent and reflective of Compass's values.
- Champion the candidate experience end-to-end: timely communication, well-run interviews, and a smooth handover to the P&C Coordinator for onboarding.
- Develop and maintain Compass's employer brand: careers page content, social presence and messaging that reflects our culture and mission in edtech.
- Track and report on recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, source of hire, pipeline conversion, diversity of slate) to the Head of People, and use that data to continuously improve the process.
- Collaborate with the P&C Business Partner on workforce planning and headcount forecasting, and with the P&C Coordinator to ensure a seamless handoff from offer through to day-one onboarding.
- Manage relationships with recruitment agencies and external partners where needed, and identify opportunities to reduce reliance on them over time.
- Stay close to market trends in tech and edtech hiring to keep Compass competitive on process, positioning and candidate experience.

**About You**

- 2–4 years' experience in full-cycle recruitment, ideally including time as a sole TA function within a growing business.
- Hands-on experience with Workable, or a comparable ATS
- Confident sourcing across multiple channels (LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, Seek, direct outreach, referrals) and comfortable building talent pipelines from scratch.
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to influence and guide hiring managers, including senior leaders, through a structured hiring process.
- Comfortable working autonomously as the sole TA specialist, while collaborating closely with the wider P&C team and knowing when to escalate.
- Data-literate, able to track recruitment metrics and translate them into clear updates and recommendations for the Head of People.
- Experience recruiting for technology, SaaS or edtech businesses is a strong plus, but not essential.
- A genuine interest in Compass's mission of transforming school management technology for the education community.

**Why join Compass?**

- Real ownership: shape the talent acquisition function from the ground up, not just execute an existing playbook.
- A tight-knit, supportive P&C team where your work is visible and valued by leadership.
- Hybrid working from our Melbourne office, with flexibility built in.
- The opportunity to help scale a business with a genuine, values-led mission in education.
