**About the team**

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QA leader to join one of our most business-critical technology domains. 

Working within our Logistics & Fulfilment squad, you'll be responsible for defining and driving the quality engineering strategy across systems that underpin warehouse operations, order fulfilment, stock movement, supply chain and customer delivery experiences in order to deliver a Change Portfolio. 

You'll champion an automation-first mindset, embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle, and help shape the future of QA practices across the wider engineering organisation. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic influence, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing delivery, mentoring and continuous improvement. 

**About the role** 

Leading the Quality Engineering strategy in a squad within our Logistics & Fulfilment domain, working closely with the other teams in the product unit to embed quality at every stage of the software development lifecycle. 

Championing an automation-first approach that enables faster, more reliable delivery and better outcomes for customers. 

-   Partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers and Architects to ensure quality is considered from discovery through to deployment.  You will be required to collaborate with squads across FS, DCX, Retail. 

-   Building confidence in our platforms through effective functional, non-functional and exploratory testing practices. 

-   Leveraging modern AI-powered tools to improve quality engineering outcomes, supporting activities such as test design, documentation, test approach creation and increasing team efficiency. 

-   As part of a distributed delivery model, you'll work closely with our 3rd Pary offshore QA colleagues, providing leadership, coaching and direction. 

-   Driving adoption of modern engineering practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and shift-left testing. 

-   Identifying opportunities to improve tooling, frameworks and processes to increase efficiency, quality and team effectiveness. 

-   Collaborating with stakeholders across Technology and the wider business to proactively manage risk and ensure successful delivery. 

-   Using data, insights and quality metrics to inform decision-making and continuously raise engineering standards. 

-   Proactively identifying, managing and communicating quality and delivery risks, ensuring issues are addressed early and appropriate mitigation plans are in place. 

-   Sharing knowledge and best practice across squads, helping shape the future of Quality Engineering at The Very Group. 

**About you**

You'll be an experienced QA professional who combines strong technical credentials with the ability to influence teams and stakeholders. You'll be passionate about quality engineering and motivated by solving complex challenges within large-scale, customer-facing environments. 

You'll thrive in a collaborative, agile setting and enjoy working across multiple teams to establish best practices, improve processes and raise the quality bar. 

-   Significant experience in Software Testing and Quality Engineering within complex technology environments. 

-   Experience operating at Principal, Lead or Senior QA level. 

-   Strong understanding of modern software development practices and Agile delivery methodologies. 

-   Proven experience designing and implementing automated testing strategies. 

-   Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and coding for automation. 

-   Experience working with AI tools, APIs and associated testing tools such as Postman. 

-   Strong exploratory, functional and technical testing capabilities. 

-   Experience implementing Test-Driven approaches including BDD, TDD and ATDD. 

-   Understanding of non-functional testing disciplines including performance, resilience and security testing. 

-   Experience working within Logistics, Supply Chain, Fulfilment, Retail, Ecommerce or similarly complex operational environments would be highly beneficial. 

-   Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels internally and externally. 

-   A passion for coaching, mentoring and developing quality engineering capability and experience working with offshore teams.
