## Description

The UC/Voice Engineer will work as part of a team of Unified Communications engineers supporting 66 ABG/SC and its customers under Core Services. The position is responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise voice and telephony solutions in accordance with Air Force enterprise standards, policies, certification/accreditation, and information assurance requirements.

-   Design, manage, and implement voice solutions in accordance with Air Force enterprise standards.
-   Plan voice environments and develop/review procedures addressing capacity, performance, reliability, and security.
-   Design, install, configure, operate, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot voice infrastructure and related services.
-   Apply enterprise telephony solutions to improve performance and flexibility across converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure.
-   Maintain required equipment, firmware, and software to ensure availability of identified voice services.
-   Use packet-capture and protocol-analysis tools and techniques to troubleshoot voice services.
-   Evaluate vendor hardware, software, and communications products and make recommendations based on customer needs.
-   Coordinate with Voice Responsible Officers; participate in planning meetings; review voice line counts and assignments; survey communication rooms, telephony backboards, terminations, and cross-connects; and develop/update voice line cut-sheets for capacity planning.
-   Maintain detailed records and operational procedures in accordance with established military processes and procedures.
-   Research technical issues and develop solutions with strong attention to detail.
-   Collaborate with project leads, company and subcontracted team members, management, and subject matter experts; conduct technical interchanges and support reporting and planning activities.
-   Support emergency operations as needed, including 24/7 and weekend work when project or operational issues warrant.

## Requirements

-   Secret-level DoD security clearance required.
-   Bachelor’s degree in IT plus 8–12 years of experience in a Unified Communications role; an additional 4 years of relevant voice experience may substitute for the degree.
-   CompTIA Security+ required.
-   In-depth hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting the Avaya Aura product suite, including Communication Managers, Session Managers, System Managers, Voice Mail Servers, and Media/Utility Servers.
-   In-depth hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Session Border Controllers (SBCs), CAIRS E-911, Sonexis, vIPers, and T-Metrics ACD.
-   In-depth experience troubleshooting SIP-based sessions across internal, service-provider, and external networks.
-   Strong network debugging and troubleshooting skills.
-   Ability to create and maintain operational procedures and topology maps using Visio.
-   Firm understanding and experience with databases, Windows servers, and Linux-based operating systems or appliances.
-   Strong working knowledge of telecom technologies, including ISDN/T-1, Voice Protection Systems, IP address management, DHCP, and DNS.
-   Strong working knowledge of telephony/VoIP standards and protocols, including SIP and H.323.
-   Excellent analytical, organizational, and project-management skills.
-   Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.
-   Ability to lift approximately 50+ lbs.
-   Critical-thinking skills for problem identification and resolution.
-   Strong written and verbal communication skills.
