### **Special Education Teacher**

**Kansas City, KS • Full-Time • 2026–2027 School Year**

**Elementary-High School | On-site | Competitive Pay**

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a school-based **Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in Kansas City, Kansas.**

This is a full-time opportunity with guaranteed hours, designated planning and documentation time, a manageable caseload, and support from both TheraPeds and the school district.

**The Role**

You'll work collaboratively with students, families, and school teams to provide individualized instruction and help students access their education, build skills, and make meaningful progress.

-   Provide individualized and small-group special education instruction
-   Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and services
-   Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs
-   Collect data and monitor academic, behavioral, and functional progress
-   Complete progress reports, IEP documentation, and required records
-   Conduct or participate in educational assessments and eligibility processes
-   Serve as a case manager for assigned students
-   Participate in IEP, eligibility, and multidisciplinary team meetings
-   Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and administrators
-   Support positive behavior, inclusion, independence, and student participation across school environments

## Requirements

### **Qualifications**

We're looking for a Special Education Teacher who has:

-   Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field
-   Active or eligible New Hampshire educator certification with the appropriate Special Education endorsement
-   Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, eligibility, progress monitoring, and special education procedures
-   School-based special education experience preferred
-   Strong classroom management and instructional skills
-   Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs
-   Strong communication and collaboration skills
-   Good organization and time-management skills
-   Comfort with educational technology, data collection, and documentation
-   Ability to complete required background clearances

### Physical Requirements

-   School-based special education is active and may require participation with students in a variety of educational environments and activities. The Special Education Teacher must be able to perform the physical functions necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities, which may include sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, transitioning to and from the floor, and engaging with students throughout school environments.
-   All responsibilities will be performed in accordance with assigned duties, district safety requirements, and applicable accommodations.
