### **Compensation Details:**

-   Business Development 19: Salaries typically range from $112,006 to $149,341 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

### **Location:** 

-   Export Development Canada operates under a hybrid work model, with employees currently required to work from the office two days per week. Effective September 2026, this requirement will increase to three days per week and will be implemented gradually through a phased approach based on employee location. **(subject to change)**. 
-   This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from our Community Hubs in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver.

### **Team Overview:**

We are looking for an experienced candidate to join our Business Development team to deliver on our mandate of creating trade opportunities for Canadian exporters and investors.  In the role of the Global Trade Director, you will leverage your extensive global professional network, business development skills, industry expertise and knowledge of Canadian capabilities and global supply chains to generate and nurture new export business opportunities for Canadian exporters and investors. 

The Global Trade Director, International Demand will work with a virtual team to establish and manage relationships with leading [foreign buyers](https://www.edc.ca/en/tool/connections/international-companies-financing.html) in selected markets, assess their business challenges and procurement needs and introduce Canadian companies with relevant value propositions.  The successful candidate will have exceptional business development skills, an understanding of sector trends, international procurement practices and of Canadian capabilities in the Forestry and Commercial Farming sectors.

The ideal candidate will bring their strong influencing and relationship management skills to develop and nurture key relationships with international buyers and identify opportunities with them to facilitate the introduction of qualified Canadian suppliers.  They will work in collaboration with sector experts to understand the value chains in the technology and manufacturing sectors and have knowledge of the Canadian ecosystem and supply chain.

They will apply that knowledge and their business developments capabilities to help Canadian companies “Go, Grow, and Succeed” in the international arena.

### **What you will be doing:** 

-   Relationship Management & Business Development

-   Build and maintain strategic relationships with large international buyers, procurement leaders, and decision-makers to identify export opportunities for Canadian companies.
-   Develop a deep understanding of buyers' business priorities, procurement processes, and supply chain needs, connecting them with relevant Canadian capabilities.
-   Contribute to account plans and engagement strategies designed to expand trade opportunities and strengthen buyer relationships.

-   Trade Opportunity Development

-   Lead the identification and facilitation of international trade opportunities, including buyer introductions, supplier matchmaking, and supply chain assessments.
-   Represent the voice of international buyers by providing insight into procurement requirements, emerging opportunities, and market needs.
-   Identify opportunities to leverage EDC's financing and risk mitigation solutions to support export transactions.

-   Collaboration & Stakeholder Leadership

-   Establish and lead virtual teams of internal stakeholders, industry associations, and government partners to advance strategic trade opportunities.
-   Collaborate with EDC teams to assess the capabilities and competitiveness of Canadian exporters and suppliers.

-   Market Intelligence & Sector Expertise

-   Monitor industry trends, market developments, and procurement activity within the Forestry and Commercial Farming sectors.
-   Gather and share market intelligence on emerging Canadian technologies, capabilities, and export opportunities to support business development efforts.

### **What we are looking for:** 

-   Undergraduate degree, equivalent professional designation, or a combination of education and relevant experience in a related field.
-   Minimum 8 years of business development, account management, and/or technical advisory experience within the Forestry, Commercial Farming, Agriculture, Natural Resources, or related sectors.
-   Strong business development and sales experience, ideally within an international environment.
-   Deep knowledge of the Forestry and Commercial Farming sectors, including industry trends, value chains, and global market dynamics.
-   Well-developed global professional network and strong technical and commercial acumen gained through directly relevant industry experience.
-   Advanced knowledge of sales, business development, and account management best practices.
-   Strong relationship management, networking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
-   Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead cross-functional or virtual teams.
-   Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
-   Intermediate proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese (spoken and written).

### **What will make you stand out:**
