### Role summary

We are looking for a proactive Beef Herdsperson to join our Gloucestershire farming team. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day care and management of our suckler herd, including grazing and forage planning, calving, herd health, record keeping and general estate upkeep, while helping to maintain high standards of animal welfare, safety and farm presentation.

### Key responsibilities

-   Coordinate the day-to-day running of all cattle, helping to ensure smooth, efficient and well-organised livestock operations.
-   Plan and manage grazing and forage use to support herd health, productivity and sustainable land management.
-   Maintain yards, fencing, water systems and field infrastructure to a high standard, ensuring the farm remains safe, tidy and fit for purpose.
-   Carry out routine herd health tasks, including foot trimming, calving support and artificial insemination where required.
-   Support calving periods with careful observation, timely intervention and high standards of animal welfare.
-   Carry out artificial insemination where required, supporting herd fertility, breeding plans and long-term livestock performance.
-   Keep accurate herd records, including movements, treatments, medicines and withdrawal periods.
-   Manage feed stores and clamps effectively, helping to maintain feed quality and reduce waste.
-   Work closely with the Farm Manager, wider farm team and veterinary support to develop and follow herd health plans and adapt where necessary.
-   Make full use of the farm’s equipment, systems and infrastructure to support efficient, productive and cost-effective ways of working.
-   Take a proactive approach to health and safety, identifying risks and helping to maintain a safe working environment for colleagues, visitors and contractors.
-   Help maintain the appearance and presentation of the estate, taking pride in the detail and making improvements where possible.
-   Represent Dyson Farming professionally, ensuring day-to-day activities uphold the standards and reputation of the Dyson brand.
-   Take ownership of personal development, completing relevant training and building skills that support the continued success of the herd and wider business.

## Requirements

### **Personal Attributes**

-   Strong practical livestock experience, ideally gained in a similar herdsperson or stock-focused farming role.
-   Excellent herd husbandry skills, with a good understanding of cattle health, welfare and performance.
-   Confident working around livestock, with a calm, observant and responsible approach to animal care.
-   Capable of working independently, taking ownership of day-to-day tasks and making sound practical decisions.
-   Well organised, with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks across a busy working day.
-   Experience in foot trimming and artificial insemination would be highly desirable.
-   Comfortable using modern agricultural machinery and farm equipment safely and effectively.
-   Telehandler and ATV certificates would be advantageous, although training may be provided where appropriate, experience is crucial.
-   Competent using basic digital systems, including Microsoft Office, for communication and record keeping.
-   Professional and respectful when working with colleagues, visitors, contractors and members of the public.
-   Proactive, flexible and positive in approach, with a willingness to support the wider farm team when needed.
-   Discreet and trustworthy, with an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
-   Committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety, animal welfare and farm presentation.
-   Keen to keep developing skills and knowledge through training and hands-on experience.
