### **Role overview**

We are looking for a **BI Data Engineer** to design, build, and maintain enterprise-scale data warehouses and Business Intelligence solutions. You will bridge the gap between raw data and actionable insights, working across cloud and on-premises environments to deliver trusted analytics platforms that serve business stakeholders.

## Requirements

**The ideal candidate will be responsible for:**

- Build and maintain Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) and modern data lakehouse architectures (cloud, on-premises, and hybrid).
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines incorporating data contracts, schema evolution management, and orchestration workflows.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and self-service BI tools that translate data into actionable insights for business users.
- Implement and manage data virtualization layers to provide unified access to heterogeneous data sources.
- Design and enforce data quality frameworks, observability practices (lineage, freshness), and SLA/SLO definitions.
- Govern the BI semantic layer — including metrics catalogs, naming conventions, and row-level security — to ensure consistency and trust.
- Optimize database schemas, query performance, and platform costs through partitioning, caching, and clustering strategies.
- Manage access controls and data security within BI platforms in line with GDPR requirements.
- Enable self-service analytics capabilities through curated datasets, certified reports, and user training.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including data dictionaries, lineage maps, and runbooks.

**To excel in this role, you'll need:**

- Solid knowledge of enterprise data warehouse design, including dimensional modeling and star/snowflake schemas.
- Familiarity with data lake and lakehouse patterns (Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg) for large-scale analytics.
- Excellent SQL skills and experience with both relational and non-relational database systems.
- Hands-on experience with BI reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) and ETL/ELT platforms (Informatica, Talend, dbt, Azure Data Factory).
- Knowledge of CDC and near-real-time ingestion technologies (Kafka, Debezium, GoldenGate).
- Experience with cloud BI architectures (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, AWS Redshift).
- Familiarity with data governance and cataloguing platforms (Collibra, Alation, Azure Purview).
- Understanding of data observability practices including freshness tracking, lineage, and anomaly detection.

**Nice to have:**

- One of the following or an equivalent: Microsoft Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate, or Amazon Certified Data Analytics Specialty.
