## Description

**Role: Mechanical General Foreman**

**Location: Dresden, Germany**

**Duration: We are open to full-time permanent and contract positions.  
Salary and rates: Negotiable, depending on experience.**

## Requirements

-   The General Foreman should be the link between the CM and the Supervision, be capable of attending whiteboard meetings to voice daily issues/constraints to keep the flow of work ahead of the area supervisors, deal with daily minor construction activity issues and trouble shoot same,
-   GF would need to have a good understanding on operation of the Navisworks model to solve problems or highlight any potential issues of the install area to the supervision,
-   Permits for the various areas and locations daily should be checked or requested by the GF to ensure all areas are covered with same and planned with the CM. Check in with all supervision daily to ensure all permits are received.
-   Scaffolding mods to existing scaffolds should be requested by the GF with the GF being the main point of contact with the scaffolding contractor rep, craft supervisors should contact the GF for any modifications directly, erection of large scaffolding should be controlled and requested by the CM with input from the General Foreman.
-   Check in every morning with the supervision for absentees on their crews, if so inform the CM asap. Discuss with the CM if the craft must be moved to priority areas should there be absenteeism to keep project progressing.
-   Liaise with other contractors and PSCS should others encroach into an area for unplanned works that would slow down or hamper works,
-   Record constraints as soon as they arise, bring immediately to the CM attention so he can deal with it or get it on the constraints log.
-   Material and piping to the work areas would be co-ordinated by priority with the CM/GF with the GF working with the riggers to service the craft supervision. This is to avoid all supervisors requesting piping at the same time.
-   A driven mentality would be required to assist the PM/CM with the weekly meterage install targets, where targets in areas are not met, he would need to explain to the CM if there are poor labour issues or supervision not fulfilling the role properly or PSCS stoppages,
-   General Foreman would keep an eye on timekeeping/attendance/Breaktimes and continual offenders to ensure the rules are being adhered to, be able to confront labour should they be gathered in an area not working or stopped for whatever reason and re direct them. Identify poor labour at an early stage and bring to the attention of the CM, GF would be working closely with the CM on labour issues, the General Foreman should not leave go or sack any person without discussion with the CM/PM firstly, should it be more serious Safety would need to be involved.
-   Safety should be top of the GF list and be willing to stop an unsafe act immediately should he come on it, buy into the safety culture onsite and highlight any unsafe site issues to the CM/Safety. Be willing to give out a card for an unsafe act.
-   Sit down weekly with the CM to plan target meterage and identify potential hold ups/constraints with a labour look ahead,
-   Confidentiality is a must to keep what is discussed in the office with the PM and CM unless it is something must be distributed.
-   The General Foreman role should be monitored and assessed as this is a possible stepping stone to a Construction Manager should the candidate be capable.
-   A couple of craft should always be in his direct control so he can target and execute install of pipe or supports at short notice or to get difficult snags over the line, PSCS could throw a curve ball any morning if they do so he can deal with it directly,
-   He would need to have a keen eye for install and highlight to supervision any missing bolts/guides etc with the mindset of keeping snags down,
-   General Foreman should be the last man out of the building daily after ensuring areas are left in a clean and tidy fashion, this eliminates unwanted attention at the morning whiteboards.
-   If a supervisor rings in sick on a day he should be capable of running that crew with ease to ensure no loss of productivity.
