## Description

We're looking for a **Platform Engineer** to own and evolve the infrastructure that powers a fast-moving, AI-native SaaS product used by real government customers with zero tolerance for downtime. This role sits at the intersection of reliability, developer experience, and scale.

You will be the person who keeps the foundation solid while the product grows quickly. That means owning cloud infrastructure, improving deployment pipelines, and making sure the engineering team can ship with confidence. This is not a corporate IT role. It is a hands-on, high-ownership position at a small startup where your decisions have direct and visible impact.

If you thrive in ambiguous environments, know how to prioritize without being told twice, and want your infrastructure work to matter to real users, this role is a strong fit.

### Why You'll Want to Join

- You will be paid in **USD** (bi-monthly: every 15th and 30th)
- **Paid Time Off** in accordance with company policy
- Observance of **Holidays** per company guidelines
- **100% remote setup** so you can work wherever you're most productive
- Work on a product that is actively used and trusted by government agencies
- High ownership, low bureaucracy, and direct access to engineering leadership
- Opportunity to shape infrastructure from the ground up at an early-stage company

### What You'll Work On

### Cloud Infrastructure

- Own and manage AWS infrastructure across all environments
- Write and maintain infrastructure as code using **Terraform**
- Ensure environments are reliable, secure, and cost-efficient
- Design and implement infrastructure changes that support product growth

### CI/CD and Developer Experience

- Build and maintain deployment pipelines that let engineers ship quickly and safely
- Reduce friction in the development workflow without sacrificing reliability
- Automate repetitive operational tasks and eliminate manual toil
- Support engineers with clear runbooks and infrastructure documentation

### Reliability and Security

- Monitor system health, set up alerting, and respond to incidents
- Implement and maintain security best practices across cloud infrastructure
- Own backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness processes
- Proactively identify and address reliability risks before they become incidents

### AI-Assisted Operations

- Actively use AI tools to improve infrastructure workflows, automation, and debugging
- Stay current on how AI is changing platform engineering practices and apply it in real work

### What You Bring

- Hands-on experience with **AWS** across core services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, ECS, VPC, IAM, and similar)
- Strong proficiency with **Terraform** for infrastructure as code
- Experience building and maintaining **CI/CD pipelines**
- Genuine, practical experience using **AI tools** in your engineering workflow, not just awareness of them
- Prior experience working at a **US-based small startup**, with a real understanding of what ambiguity and limited resources look like in practice
- Ability to operate independently, prioritize without hand-holding, and make sound decisions under uncertainty
- Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical teammates

### Nice to Have

- Experience with container orchestration (ECS, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- Exposure to compliance or security frameworks relevant to government or regulated environments
- Experience supporting a product through early growth stages

### How to Apply

Please include:

1. Your **updated resume**
2. A **short 1 to 2 minute Loom video** introducing yourself, describing a piece of infrastructure you owned end-to-end, and giving a concrete example of how you use AI in your engineering work

**Only candidates who submit a Loom video will be considered.**

If you enjoy owning infrastructure, solving hard reliability problems, and building the foundation that lets a product team move fast, this role offers real ownership, a lean environment, and work that directly affects a product people depend on.
