## Description

**Who we are:**

Toucanberry Tech is a boutique software consultancy specialising in the reinsurance sector. We build innovative products and services by organising cross-functional squads covering product, design, engineering, and data. We value autonomy, results, and cutting through bureaucracy.

**The role:**

You will be the technical lead on one of our client data platform projects, working with a small engineering team and one or two key client stakeholders.

-   Own the technical solution and architecture end to end
-   Join daily stand-ups and challenge technical decisions where needed
-   Set and enforce engineering standards, including the release process and platform security
-   Spot risks early, clear blockers and manage competing priorities
-   Be the client’s go-to technical contact, setting clear expectations and giving them confidence the project is under control
-   Make sure solutions are built to be maintained and supported long term through our managed service
-   Report clearly and concisely, both internally and to the client

## Requirements

You will have come up through the tech lead route and be ready to own a client engagement, with a strong technical background and a growing commercial mindset.

-   A background as a Tech Lead, Lead Engineer, Solutions Architect or Lead Consultant on data or cloud platform projects
-   Strong architectural knowledge of modern cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP)
-   Experience working in regulated environments where security and governance matter
-   Able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical and commercial stakeholders
-   Highly organised, detail-focused, reliable and proactive
-   Comfortable in a fast-moving consultancy or start-up environment where priorities change

**Nice to have:**

-   Databricks experience
-   Experience in insurance, reinsurance or financial services

**Where this role can go:**

We are hiring for potential as well as capability. If this project goes well, you will take on technical ownership of more projects across the business, with a longer-term path towards leading technology for the company as we grow.
