## Description

Founded in 2001, _Resident Advisor_ (RA) is one of the world's longest-running music media brands and a cornerstone of the dance, electronic and DJ ecosystem. The site's audience of over 7 million monthly users is drawn in by a combination of news, editorial, club listings and ticketing, RA-branded events at venues and festivals worldwide, original films and a weekly mix series that has run for 20 years.

**Purpose of the role:**

What does tastemaking look like in 2026? This new position has been created to manage, shape and expand the future of _RA_’s music curation across all channels. Reviews as a format are evolving, and so our Music section is evolving with it.

You will use strong editorial judgement, production skills and deep curiosity for electronic music to maintain _RA_’s connection to the underground through farsighted coverage and reactive writing on new releases. You’ll work closely with the Editor, Digital Editor, Head of Content Strategy and various leads across the Editorial, Content and Global Contributor Network teams to improve how we talk about music on web (in long- and short-form writing) as well as social media.

This role is an attractive, all-new way for an original thinker and rigorous worker with a global ear to evolve _RA_’s long history of tastemaking for the 2020s.

**Key responsibilities:**

- **Editorial judgement and direction:** An intuitive understanding of what works for RA’s coverage in curation, and how to reinvigorate it.
- **Collaboration:** Work closely with the Editorial, Content and GCN teams to revolutionise and expand RA’s music coverage in 2026 across quick-hit recommendations and longer pieces of criticism.
- **Discovery and coverage planning:** Track upcoming releases and artist activity, as well as planning key anniversaries and tentpole coverage outside of new music where possible (e.g. Best of Year, Best of Century.)
- **Scene knowledge:** Track cultural shifts across scenes, with strong knowledge of what is rising or falling in cultural value in the main markets for club culture worldwide. The key to success in this role is being adventurous while selective.
- **Maintain output**: You will lead commissioning, production and publication of all music coverage on [ra.co](http://ra.co).
- **Contributor network:** Liaise with roster of contributors to improve quality and turnaround through strong commissioning, editing and relationship management.
- **Availability:** Acting with speed on short-lead or surprise releases will take you far.

**We’re looking for:**

- Proven production skills and sharp editorial judgement. Able to make clear calls on what RA should cover, how and why.
- Strong writing and editing skills. Crucially, able to deliver on deadline.
- Experience commissioning and managing contributors in different territories and timezones. Strong briefs, clean edits, constructive feedback and reliable contributor relationships.
- Collaborative and organised. Works well with Editorial, Content and Social partners, and keeps work moving with clear ownership and good lead time.
- As a bonus, comfortable on camera. Happy to present, record and recommend _RA_’s tastemaking on video alongside others on the team.

**What we offer you:**

- Generous annual leave policies aimed at promoting work-life balance.
- Flexibility in working arrangements, offering hybrid or remote work options based on role requirements and location.
- Matching pension schemes and/or 401k.
- Comprehensive staff wellbeing initiatives, featuring regular activities and workplace programmes to support mental and physical health. This includes discounted Classpass memberships, and custom-fitted earplugs.
- Company-led social events, team lunches, and discounts on RA merch.
- Paid annual volunteering allowance, encouraging contributions to community projects and charities you care about.
- Regular company-wide Q&A’s with senior leadership, along with ongoing virtual educational training sessions for all staff.
- A transparent internal company culture committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (see: [https://ra.co/about/diversity](https://ra.co/about/diversity)).
- Active involvement in community projects within the electronic music community (see: [https://ra.co/about/community](https://ra.co/about/community)).
